I was talking to my husband when Lana—our sweet, innocent girl—ran up to us, yelling, “Mom, look! I wrote my name all by myself!” Then she shoved this picture in my hands, and we both made a valiant (yet unsuccessful) attempt to not completely lose it.

The topic of believing God—even when there seems to be no hope—has come up frequently for our family in this season of life. So much so that it’s starting to rub off on our children.
Recently, Lana (our six-year-old) was playing in some of my makeup. When bedtime rolled around and I told her it was time to wash it off, she just smiled at me. It was one of those smiles most parents are familiar with that strikes the fear of God in your heart.

How do you dress for a spiritual battle? By putting on the armor of God. Let’s look at the clothes Paul laid out for us in Ephesians 6:
Our ability to use any of our other pieces of armor depends on our belt. That’s where we attach our shield and hang our sword. It’s what keeps our breastplates from flapping in the wind. Our armor literally comes apart, piece by piece, if we don’t have the belt around our waist, which means it’s essential. When we are firmly established in the truth of the Gospel, we can be assured that all the other pieces of our equipment are going to stay in place, allowing us to fight confidently in battle. If we are armed with truth, then we can withstand the father of lies.

I found myself in Mark 5 this morning, reading about Jesus raising the young girl from the dead. All He had to do was take her by the hand and say, “Little girl—get up!” and immediately, she stood up and began to walk around.
Maybe you know that Jesus wants to resurrect you from something—He’s telling you to get up—but you don’t see the fruit.
If you back up a few verses, notice what Jesus did right before He healed the girl: He pruned. When He told the crowd that she was not dead but asleep, they laughed at Him. So He told them to get out. Scripture says He put them all outside before going upstairs with the child’s mother, father, and the disciples who were with Him. Then He revived the girl.
