Power in Presence

Then he said to Him, "If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. For how then can it be known that Your people have found favor in Your sight? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we may be distinguished from all the other people who are on the face of the earth?” 
Exodus 33:15-16

Moses knew it was God’s presence that would distinguish him from all other people. Not what he did, not what he said, not how he looked, but God’s presence and power alone.

This word is an exhortation and reminder that the very thing Moses was asking for is exactly what we have been promised:


Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? 
— 1 Corinthians 3:16
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. 
— Matthew 28:20
