Don’t Scale Back the Dream

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26

Being Kingdom-minded means learning to dream from the mind of Christ. When my husband and I first started dreaming with the Lord about what He wanted to do, we would share those visions with friends. They loved us deeply, and they meant well, but often their encouragement sounded like, “That’s amazing! But maybe you should scale it back a bit, make it something more realistic.”

The problem is that those “scaled-back” dreams were dreams we could accomplish without God. And Kingdom dreams were never meant to be that small.

God is building something far bigger than what we could ever construct in our own strength. To truly partner with Him, we have to keep dreaming with Him in ways that stretch far beyond our ability. If the dreams in our hearts are things we can pull off with our own resources, influence, or skill, then they’re not Kingdom dreams yet. Because Kingdom dreams require the King.

I believe God is calling us into a place where the plans before us are impossible without His power. The kind of vision that leaves no doubt that He is the one doing it.

When we started our ministry, we began with three questions that still shape everything we do:

  •
Where is Your heart, Lord?
  • What do You want to see happen?

  • How can we join You?

I encourage you to ask Him those questions today.

“God, what are You dreaming for that You want to do through me?”

There’s a measure of glory that comes when we do good things for God in our own strength, but there’s a greater glory when we partner with Him to do the impossible.
