Be Careful Little Ears What You Hear

If the Lord is calling you to begin something new in this season, be on guard against advice grounded in worldly wisdom.

I believe He is calling many people to step out in faith, for such a time as this. But don’t be surprised if people—even well-meaning loved ones—warn you not to move forward because of the economy, or the public perception, or the current political climate.

Their reasoning might make perfect sense, but Scripture warns us about the dangers of worldly logic preventing us from following Jesus. In Matthew 16, when Jesus rebukes Peter, He says, “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

There’s a reason Moses didn’t poll all of his friends to see if they thought going through the Red Sea was a good exit strategy. Why David didn’t ask the whole army if they thought five stones and a slingshot would be enough to take down a giant. Why Peter didn’t ask the other disciples in the boat if he should try to walk on water—in fact, the one time he “read the room,” he ended up denying Jesus three times.

Seeking wise counsel is not a bad thing, but beware the wisdom of man. Remember that you have THE Counselor, the Spirit of truth, always ready to lead and teach you.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
— Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭
